General Dynamics Showcases Breadth and Depth of Capabilities at CANSEC 2012

WHAT: At CANSEC 2012 General Dynamics will demonstrate its breadth of capabilities that are responsive to Canada's national security and defence communities, including combat, tactical and support vehicles and systems; ammunition and Simunition® products; battlefield management and tactical communications systems; information assurance products; toughened laptop computers; and a variety of other specialized products and services.

Exhibit highlights include:

General Dynamics Canada will showcase its command, control and communications products and systems for land combat platforms, including its Smart Displays and its MESHnet® Tactical Mobile Router. It will also demonstrate its Sonobuoy Processing System for detecting underwater threats and its Airborne Mission Management System. As the sponsor of the Canadian EDGE Innovation Network, General Dynamics Canada will highlight how the unique, collaborative approach of the EDGE addresses some of the key issues faced by the defence and security sector including rapidly developing solutions to capability gaps, maximizing research and development budgets and accelerating technology and product development.

General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada will display an upgraded LAV II H vehicle with enhanced capabilities and the latest product, the tracked Bronco Marginal Terrain Vehicle. Two current programs with the Department of National Defence (DND) will be highlighted: the LAV III Upgrade program and the LAV through life support program, provided through the OWSS contract. In addition, the Piranha 5 Close Combat Vehicle will be highlighted, along with the support provided to Oshkosh Defense for the TAPV and MSVS programs.

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems - Canada will showcase a variety of small, medium and large caliber ammunition from 5.56mm to 155mm artillery projectiles. Its Simunition FX training will be highlighted, a non-lethal training product including FX® Marking cartridges, conversion kits and protective equipment for use in force-on-force training.

General Dynamics C4 Systems will showcase tactical computing, communications and networking products, which help users create their own networks in remote locations quickly, send search and rescue data and provide highly dependable line-of-sight communications. Demonstrations will include: Pathmaker network radio, a handheld device capable of mobile, ad hoc mesh networking; Fortress secure, rugged, high-speed wireless mesh data networking products; and Itronix rugged mobile computing solutions ranging from battle-tough laptops and tablets to ultra-mobile handheld and wearable devices.
